Will I lose progress if I reinstall?
Yes. Uninstalling removes all local data, because nothing is stored on servers.

How do I move a piece?
Tap one of your pieces to select it. If Move hints is on in Settings, dots show every legal square. Then tap a square to move there. Castling, en passant and promotion follow the full chess rules; when a pawn reaches the last rank you choose the piece it becomes.

How do I unlock the next rival?
Only Pip is open at the start. Win a game against the highest open rival and the next rung of the ladder opens. Your wins, losses and draws against each rival are shown on the Rivals tab. Games played from an arranged position are kept in the scorebook but do not move the ladder.

What do Undo and Hint do?
Undo takes back your last move; against a rival it takes back both your move and the rival's reply. Hint marks a recommended move on the board for your side. Both are in the toolbar under the board, next to Flip, Draw, Resign and Moves.

No. An unfinished game is saved on your device after every move. Open the Play tab and tap Continue to pick it up where you left off.

How do I reset my progress?
Tap the gear icon on the Play tab, open Reset data and choose what to clear: Clear scorebook, Reset rival ladder (only Pip is open again) or Discard saved game. Each one asks for confirmation and leaves the other data and your settings untouched.
